Sashimi is a delicious Japanese delicacy that is often served in the
beginning of a meal as a palate cleanser and appetizer. It mainly
consists of fresh raw seafood that are sliced into pieces and served
with a dipping sauce.

This thinly sliced Japanese raw seafood is beautifully arranged and
served on top of shredded daikon and shiso leaves. While sushi is served
with vinegared rice, sashimi is raw fish served with a variety of
garnishes and sauces.
The fish used for sashimi must be fresh and of highest quality. Since
sashimi is a raw food, it can cause various food borne illnesses because
of the presence of bacteria and parasites. However, it also has health
benefits, as there is almost no composition of fat with presence of high
levels of protein, which is very important for the human body.
